Harley Q

                      Harley davidson

Many reason why I love being on two wheels is the lifestyle and the freedom you feel when your out by yourself or in a group ride with a couple of the boys but I wanted to talk about harley Q's that we do once a month.  Every month we have a Harley Q down at the only harley davidson on island in Guam.

First:  we would meet up at harley davidson or a pre designated spot which yesterday night  was tumon and we all put our bikes on display for everyone.

Second we would do our ride to the spot but the kicker is only one person knows where we will be going and once everyone meets up then we are told in a meeting.
Once we know where to go we ride!

Third:  we get to the spot and we have free food free sodas and raffles.

When we got there they asked 8 players to play a game to see who can win a game of flip cup and you had a choice of what to drink(other alternatives to drinking alcohol) and naturally my team won and we got harley davidson hats.

After that it was time for the raffles I was there for the food so I didn't pay too much attention to it until they gave us each a free ticket(now they had my attention) I ended getting my number called 2nd to last and winning a harley davidson sweater and coffee mug.  Which was a big problem because I had to find a way to carry everything on my bike.

All in all it was a great night with great frinds and making new ones.

Wedding time!

                       Wonderful Wedding

Yesterday I had the opportunity to witness the union of a good friend of mine and his other half, it was a great day with my family and exciting since the last wedding I was at was my own.

The setting was wonderful the ceremony was on the beach in Guam and the reception was at a restaurant/pub The Cove, it was a whole new experience one of which I loved.

When we were listening to the speeches given by the crowd one person stood up and gave one of the most thoughtful speeches I've ever heard he said "first treat your wife as your sister and think about how you would want your sister to be treated and then treat her as your wife" my wife was so moved that she looked over to me and said "I wish Clesca did our wedding."

I love weddings and I am glad I had the opportunity to attend this one congratulations Mr. and Mrs….

Happy fourth of July...preparing for a Typhoon

Being in Guam we are always on the look out for tropical storms and typhoons, this weekend just happened to be one during the fourth of July weekend.

Happy Fourth of July…

Earlier this week we were hearing about a typhoon that was about to hit the Marianas Islands and that it was going to hit Guam specifically 4th of July weekend.  The whole week we were preparing for the Typhoon Chan-hom going to fill up gas, groceries making sure our families would be taken care of when the inevitable Sortie we would have to do before the storm hit Guam.

It’s one of the biggest challenges I face being a father, husband and in the military I constantly worry about my wife and son when we have to leave for a couple of days due to a storm or any other problems that arise.

All week we were hoping and praying that Chan-hom would take a detour route and not hit Guam.  While preparing for Typhoons or tropical storms make sure to:

  • Grocery shopping – be sure to stock up your canned foods especially water to last a couple of days.

  • Fill up your gas and generators – everybody needs to be ready in case of power loss.

  • Stay in doors you never know when there is going to be falling debris or wires that will fall.

  • Make sure your cars are covered – don’t want anything to scratch your paint.

  • Close your Shutters – you don’t want anything to come flying through your windows.

Here is an update on whats going on with Typhoon Chan-hom:

Chan-hom after becoming a typhoon Thursday and weakening Friday to a tropical storm is ready to hit Guam and is about 300 miles southeast of Andersen Air Force Base.  it is moving north-northwest at 5 mph as of Friday afternoon.  Guam is in Condition of Readiness 3 and is awaiting to move into TCCOR-1 within the next 48 hours.

Be sure to take care of your families and household goods.  Let me know if you have gone through anything similar to this.
