Hey everyone I know i havent been on here in a long time but today i just felt
compelled to come on and bring everybody up to speed with how me and my wife are doing.

Life and times are changing we recently left Guam last month after three years of living the island life.  It was a great and wonderful experience for my family we had our first child and had many first time experiences while there.  Right now we have been relocated to sunny San Diego where i have checked into a new command and i am loving being back home for the holidays coming up.

San Diego we are always experiencing new things we bought a honda pilot and are loving every bit of it.  We celebrated kingston's seven months in arizona where he had his first halloween as a little dinosaur.

Block party

Guam Block Party

This weekend there was a BBQ block party down in Tumon, the food and entertainment was great!  They had live bands and many performances from a group out of Pacific Island Club (PIC) they performed Samoan, Tahitian, Micronesian, and many more dances.

Me and my wife walked around all the booths they had a variety of prizes and over all a great night.  By the end of the night the Mount Carmel Band had everybody dancing to their music and they finished it off with Electric Slide.

If you are ever in the Guam area be sure to be on the look out for the many fiestas going on around the island.

Harley Q

                      Harley davidson

Many reason why I love being on two wheels is the lifestyle and the freedom you feel when your out by yourself or in a group ride with a couple of the boys but I wanted to talk about harley Q's that we do once a month.  Every month we have a Harley Q down at the only harley davidson on island in Guam.

First:  we would meet up at harley davidson or a pre designated spot which yesterday night  was tumon and we all put our bikes on display for everyone.

Second we would do our ride to the spot but the kicker is only one person knows where we will be going and once everyone meets up then we are told in a meeting.
Once we know where to go we ride!

Third:  we get to the spot and we have free food free sodas and raffles.

When we got there they asked 8 players to play a game to see who can win a game of flip cup and you had a choice of what to drink(other alternatives to drinking alcohol) and naturally my team won and we got harley davidson hats.

After that it was time for the raffles I was there for the food so I didn't pay too much attention to it until they gave us each a free ticket(now they had my attention) I ended getting my number called 2nd to last and winning a harley davidson sweater and coffee mug.  Which was a big problem because I had to find a way to carry everything on my bike.

All in all it was a great night with great frinds and making new ones.

Wedding time!

                       Wonderful Wedding

Yesterday I had the opportunity to witness the union of a good friend of mine and his other half, it was a great day with my family and exciting since the last wedding I was at was my own.

The setting was wonderful the ceremony was on the beach in Guam and the reception was at a restaurant/pub The Cove, it was a whole new experience one of which I loved.

When we were listening to the speeches given by the crowd one person stood up and gave one of the most thoughtful speeches I've ever heard he said "first treat your wife as your sister and think about how you would want your sister to be treated and then treat her as your wife" my wife was so moved that she looked over to me and said "I wish Clesca did our wedding."

I love weddings and I am glad I had the opportunity to attend this one congratulations Mr. and Mrs….

SMOKIN' ribs for the first time.

The woes of smoking ribs for the first time

The other day I had an epiphany I wanted some BBQ and i didn't want to go out to get it either so i searched YouTube, pinterest and our favorite site google.  I originally wanted brisket so set out to find the best "how to" and brisket video out there, I looked at reviews, how many likes the video had and I found some very good tips.  once i found my recipe i set out to buy all the ingredients i had everything except for a couple of spices and the brisket.

I get to the frozen meat section and bam! i find it only its more then what my recipe calls for and 60 dollars...I never turned around so quickly in my life, i was on the rocks with it for a while and eventually i told myself not for my first time and left it at that.

So back to drawing board for me and i came up with ribs, I picked them up and get everything ready at home.  I quickly went into the zone and started everything I had my hickory wood, in grill thermometer, chimney and the grill started in no time, seasoned the ribs, everything was looking good.

Until...an hour and a half in the grill starts getting too hot, the temperature was supposed to be from 225 to 250 degrees and its at 300 degrees and staying steady im moving things around.  so back to google for ways for it to cool down but everything is telling me its hard to take heat away its easy to give heat to the grill...in my head im screaming I know that! give me something I don't know.  While this was happening my son is in the background crying because the sound of the door being open constantly woke him up, my wife is giving me dirty looks and im looking guilty but I was thinking to myself I need to press on I am not about to lose to the grill.  my son eventually falls asleep when my wife takes him for a walk and finally  I was able to continue cooking without feeling bad.

eventually I calm down and start thinking if its going at a higher temperature ill just shorten the amount of time by an hour and pray that it turns out great, I pulled the ribs off the grill and let them sit for a bit and dug in.  they were great!  let me know if you had an experience similar to this with your first time smoking meats.

Happy fourth of July...preparing for a Typhoon

Being in Guam we are always on the look out for tropical storms and typhoons, this weekend just happened to be one during the fourth of July weekend.

Happy Fourth of July…

Earlier this week we were hearing about a typhoon that was about to hit the Marianas Islands and that it was going to hit Guam specifically 4th of July weekend.  The whole week we were preparing for the Typhoon Chan-hom going to fill up gas, groceries making sure our families would be taken care of when the inevitable Sortie we would have to do before the storm hit Guam.

It’s one of the biggest challenges I face being a father, husband and in the military I constantly worry about my wife and son when we have to leave for a couple of days due to a storm or any other problems that arise.

All week we were hoping and praying that Chan-hom would take a detour route and not hit Guam.  While preparing for Typhoons or tropical storms make sure to:

  • Grocery shopping – be sure to stock up your canned foods especially water to last a couple of days.

  • Fill up your gas and generators – everybody needs to be ready in case of power loss.

  • Stay in doors you never know when there is going to be falling debris or wires that will fall.

  • Make sure your cars are covered – don’t want anything to scratch your paint.

  • Close your Shutters – you don’t want anything to come flying through your windows.

Here is an update on whats going on with Typhoon Chan-hom:

Chan-hom after becoming a typhoon Thursday and weakening Friday to a tropical storm is ready to hit Guam and is about 300 miles southeast of Andersen Air Force Base.  it is moving north-northwest at 5 mph as of Friday afternoon.  Guam is in Condition of Readiness 3 and is awaiting to move into TCCOR-1 within the next 48 hours.

Be sure to take care of your families and household goods.  Let me know if you have gone through anything similar to this.
If you enjoyed this post, I’d be very grateful if you’d spread by emailing it to a friend or sharing on twitter or Facebook. Thank you -Diaper Duty Dad .

MY First Father's Day

MY first Father’s Day 21 June 2015

When I woke up on 21 June 2015, it was a new experience for me. My son was born a few months prior and I just had a great feeling waking up seeing my son laying there next to my wife with his happy face plastered on.  Everything I was feeling was almost too much for me, It was Father’s Day and I was going to enjoy it at much as I could.

I know my wife has been busy and staying up late for long nights on end so that I can get rest for work and I love her so much for that. I didn’t wake up to normal means as in breakfast in bed or even a nice spread downstairs waiting on me, I didn’t care about any of that, what I wanted to hear was “Happy Father’s Day babe, I love you” and that’s exactly what I got along with a wonderful picture frame with me and my son.

What made my day special was not only am I able to call myself a father for the first time but it was exactly 3 months that day my son was born.

So in the word’s of Big Sean “BLESSINGS”
